UGC directs universities to upload 2025 academic records on ABC platform by June 30
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all Higher Education Institutions, including universities and autonomous colleges, to upload students’ academic records for the 2025 examination year on the National Academic Depository (NAD) and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platform by June 30, 2026. The records include marksheets, grade sheets, corresponding credit data and other academic documents. UGC stated that no fresh uploads for 2025 records would be accepted after the deadline, although corrections to existing records may be permitted in exceptional cases.
Why it matters
The directive strengthens the role of digital academic records in India’s higher education ecosystem and moves institutions toward more systematic, centralised record management. Accurate and timely uploads are important for ensuring that students’ academic achievements are correctly linked to their APAAR identities and can subsequently support credit accumulation, transfer and redemption.
For institutions, the requirement also raises the importance of data governance and administrative readiness. Universities and colleges will need reliable processes for validating marksheets, grade sheets and credit information before submission, since errors or incomplete records could affect students’ ability to access academic services and exercise mobility across institutions.
The move is also closely aligned with the NEP 2020 vision of flexible, credit based and multidisciplinary education. As NAD and ABC become increasingly embedded in institutional operations, the quality of an institution’s digital academic records will become an important component of effective student services and seamless academic mobility.
